Image Object

This project focuses on forming/transitioning two-dimensional imagery into three dimensional objects. Although, two dimensional may not be the right term to describe these images - they are more akin to two and a half. This is due to the perceived depth that is embedded within these objects through layered patterning and embedded shadows. There is an illustrated tension between depth and flatness that lives within the folded up thin paper which creates the forms.

Within the Image Objects, some of these shadows are notational: provide clues for construction, and other shadows are representational: provide a layered reading to the objects. Paired with instructional animations for how to construct the images, the Image Objects can be easily circulated and reproduced with a printer, x-acto, and glue.
